img_1179Annie Kunjappy has worked in theatre since 1993 as a deviser of original work, actor and designer. In 1995 she co-founded Strangefruit Theatre Ensemble in San Francisco which morphed into Woof Nova on the East Coast (NYC-Balt).

In San Francisco, she performed with and designed costumes for Travelling Jewish Theatre , Nightletter Theatre, Campo Santo, among others. Her direction and costume design for Strangefruit’s Sewing Lessons were nominated for a Critics’ Circle award, and she won Best Costume Design for Campo Santo’s Funnyhouse of a Negro. Annie has also taught and performed Motion Theatre an improvised physical narrative form with Nina Wise in the SF Bay Area, Los Angeles, and New York.

Woofnova presented veils/vestiges: the aesthetics of hidden things(2006), Spoleum(2007), and Hearts and Tongues(2008) at the Ontological Theatre and LaMama in New York, and the Baltimore Theatre Project.

While in the Bay Area, she also taught college mathematics. She works as a chef and teaches at a culinary school in New York.
